Can't get Browser Text Control to Load in IE8

Hi,

I am having some difficulty in getting the Browser Text control to load in IE8 on Windows 7 professional 32-bit, I am currently trying the Trial version of 15.1. I have followed all the instructions as per the tutorial in the Documentation.

I have used the Microsoft Internet Explorer Compatibility Test Tool to try to resolve the issue, but every time I load the browser page, the message in the Compatibility Test Tool comes back as ActiveX Blocking, but it doesn't give me a reason why except for "Control instatiation: instantiation status" in the Description field.

I have changed the .NET 2.0 security configuration to allow Full Trust for the url and I have set the security on IE8 as low as possible, but it still will not load.

Are there any other tools which might help me try to discover why the control will not load?

Thanks

Stephen

Hello Stephen,
A quick question: Can you run the TX Text Control .NET Server Document Explorer sample on our labs website?

Re: Can't get Browser Text Control to Load in IE8

Hi Gunnar,

Yes I can.

I have just now discovered that if I run the app using the ASP.NET Development Server it works fine, but when I use IIS 7.0 it won't work at all. However, I will need it to run on IIS if it is deployed to a deployed server.

Do you know if there is any other configuration required for IIS 7.0 on Windows 7 32 bit.

Many Thanks

Thumbs up *SOLVED* Re: Can't get Browser Text Control to Load in IE8

Hi,

Looking trhough other posts in the forum gave me a clue, it was due to the fact that IIS defaults to trying to run dlls on the server using ISAPI-dll.

If you have the same problem:
  • Go to your website in IIS Manager
  • Open the Handler Mappings Feature
  • Find ISAPI-dll, right click it and select Edit
  • change Module to StaticFileModule
  • Click OK to exit the dialog

Cheers

Stephen
